Maybe this is showing my ignorance, but I was wondering if people ice fish Blackfoot Res.? I have never heard of anyone doing it. Is there too much snow? Is the ice unpredictable? I would imagine someone could get into some big fish there...

Have any of you guys ever attempted fishing it without a snow mobile? Are we talking a mile walk or a 10 mile walk. Are any of the access roads maintained in the winter..for example the government dam road? 7lb rainbows chasing carp minnows might spur me to strap on the snowshoes and go for a jaunt.

I was wondering if I could make it back there in my Yamaha Rhino (UTV)...sounds like it would be worth the trip.

Hookedlikeu and I caught it right after it froze this fall when the roads were still dry. It was great fishing. Those rainbows are like footballs. We did ice a 7lber as the icing on the cake. If you have a snow machine, I think it would certainly be worth the trip. I have heard rumors of some very nice fish in there.
