Launched at Deer Creek about 7:45. Water temp was 58 to 59 at the ramp. Headed straight up to the north end and pulled Lindy rigs on the flats. Water temp on the north end was 59 to 60.
Got a few hits, but couldn't hook up. My buddy Scott did the wind dance. Hoping for a nice Walleye chop.
Wind finally picked up and I decided to try throwing some jigs. Put on one of Tube Dudes big white jigs and a 4" chartreuse mister twister tail. Walleye liked it a lot and with a south wind, you could cast a mile. Worked the jig fast until it started pounding rocks, then gave it twitches through the rocks. Caught three right at the boat. My buddy spent too much time trying to catch fish under the boat with a jig and crawler. He did get one nice eye in 13' and many Smallmouth bass. He finally put on a TD jig and tail and caught three eyes. I got nine walleye and a few Smallies.
All fish were caught in 6 to 13'.
Mossy in shallow water. If we started dragging in too much moss, we would go out and re-anchor. The wind would break the anchor loose just often enough to keep us moving shallower.
Most of the fish are over the slot this year and must be released. Took home six fish between us.And we did get checked by the ranger. Last week we got checked by a fish cop. So be legal. They are out and about.
Good fishing. See ya on the water.
