2-18
Well i just pulled in from a good fishing trip from the good old salmon river. I got off work 5 am on wednesday, by 5:30 me and grandpa were on our way. I warned you about my grandpas driving on another post, well he wouldnt let me drive so i got no sleep!! Well at 11:30 we had stopped at ellis hole for a hour. We each had a hit granpa landed a small wild fish, and i lost one after a couple seconds. We thought we better get down river before dark so we headed down to colston creek. We had hell getting to our lot. we got stuck a couple times and had to dig out i was afraid we would have to sleep in the truck. but we finaly made it.
2-19
I woke up and got out of the camper and right on the hill withing 150 yards from us and each other were a couple mulies, some elk a spike which still had his horns, and about 35 big horns. So i knew it would be a good day. We fished ebinezer all day that day it was slow, the water was pretty dirty. but i managed to get a 5 lb male but we had no other bites. The fish and game officer came by and told us we were the only onces fishing from the north fork down!!! We also were wanting to get to the middle fork but there was a land slide that had blocked the road. So we decided taht night that if the fishing was no better we would go try salmon.
2-20
Woke up and fished ebinezer again. No bites by 1 A guy told us that he had heard you could get around the road block so we figured it would be worth a shot. We pulled up and thought of turning around but thoughts of fish talked us into it. we started down and about mid way threw hit a rock and poped a tire. so after we fixed it we turned around and left, afraid that we would flatten another and be stranded. So to salmon we went.
2-21
we fished the sewer hole. It was slow but from the ppl we had talked to. it sounded like more fish are being caught around salmon than down river. Grandpa managed in 2 small steelies but they were the only fish that we saw landed. Other than suckers, which i probly cleaned the river out.
2-22
we decided to head home and fish our way out, we stopped at a couple holes on our way to ellis hole, but no fish. So we arrived at ellis at around 11:00 i got out wondering if we even should. I walked down and half heartedly threw in my fly. BANG!! right off the bat fish on, it was probly a 27 inch wild fish. I was happy to get a fish but a bit bummed out. So 2 cast later i had another bite. about 5 minutes later bang another fish on!! landed it a brilliant red male 25 inches long. After that things slowed down to about 2. When i got a nice 28 inch hen. I had it almost to the net when it turned and popped the hook and grandpa lunged with the net and saved the day. A bit after that it started to blow and got cold so we headed home.
I will post the pictures as soon as i figure out how to resize them. i didnt get many of the fish but i got some of the sheep, and the rock slide (it was amazing, rocks as big as a small car had hit the road and bounced into the river and left 4 foot crevises.
