I guess it was in the paper this morning. Sportsmen's Warehouse in Pocatello is soon to be gone. Don't know about IF or any of the others.
Really too bad. I loved hanging out there. I guess this can happen when you expand too fast and the economy takes a dump.

From what I heard they are closing 23 stores around the country. The two they are closing in Idaho are Pocatello, and then one up North.
I was glad to know that IF wasn't closing because I get almost everything there. Fly fishing stuff I buy from Jimmey's

They would probably be doing alot better if they could understand the basics of supply and demand. Their inventory system is horrible, they are constantly out of stuff, and they can never tell you when or if they will get some more in. I bought some expensive graphite arrows a couple years ago and after loosing a few I went back to buy some more, well they of course didn't have any, a year later and they still haven't got those same arrows stocked yet and all they can tell me is we should be getting some more of those [mad]. I finally had to order them directly from the manufacture. I still buy most of my stuff from them just because its only 2 miles from my house. But I am not surprised they are in trouble.

I completely agree. The Walmart near the Sportsmans here in I.F. has kept their Gamakatsu hooks in stock, why can't Sportsmans? It's their job for crying out loud. They also seem to have trouble updating the fishing report board. Today the most recent report was on 2/11. My buddy says the store in Poky has more up to date reports on our waters up this way.
Don't get me wrong, I love going there and they are much better than the other sporting goods stores in town, but just don't plan on them having what is said to be working or the things that usually work well.

I have only notice the low stock in the last 6 months, before that they stayed pretty current. I am talking the original Midvale store.
One thing I do know, while working for ORVIS a big chain, you had to order large quantities of anything new. Orvis was great in that we got replacements weekly...even if it meant one package of hooks and some flashabou.
But I know Cabela's has to wait for full orders. That is terrible in this sport field. When we need something, we need it now.
That is why I prefer the small Mom and Pop shops, they can order one or two.
But again some companies like HARELINE will only ship bulk.
It is a tough field.
It will turn allot of people off though. I mean if the Midvale store is going to stay open, they better get something to sale. Those employees don't work for free, and the utilities can't be all that cheap.

Hey Goddess , I feel for you .
We had one here in Michigan , for a couple months i'm told .
It was near my old home town but nobody knew it was there .
They didn't do anything for advertising other than a piece of cardboard box with the
Name written in magic marker sitting on the side of the road , no newspaper or radio/t.v. adds .
The closest one I knew about was in indiana , too far for me to go .
Every time I recived a gift card for them i'de do a quick search and donate the cards to any kids fishing program in indiana .
Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys , hope it dosen't go under !

I'm glad to hear the one in Meridian is staying open as it is only 5 minutes from my house. I buy most my stuff there. Cabelas is too expensive for my taste.
Sorry to hear Nampa is closing. I would run in there when I went to Costco.
I also shop Western Marine and Howards. Howards has a tendency to be low on stock at times.

I see the Poky store is closing, but the IF one is staying. I am glad one is staying around, but it may be harder to get things this way. The inventory control is terrible. Many times I have had to buy 1 item at IF and then drive to Poky to get a matching item (ie Down Riggers). I have had this happen many times with reels, down riggers, poles, you name it. Hope they get this worked out.
