Nauticman, Chickamauga, Crappie, bass, 3/17/09, Solo
#1
Put in at Chester Frost around 11am. Never saw so many cars and boat trailers there on a weekday. Ran across the lake to fish mud/gravel points and coves for bass. It was like broadway, bass boat coming and going continuosly. I only caught 3 12 inch largemouth on rattletraps and jig/plastic pig. Lost a couple, one of which I could see, looked to be a better fish.

Decided to go for crappie and caught a limit of black crappie on fallen tree/brush structure near deep water. Most were caught on pearl/chartreuse BG shads and stingers. I started with 1/32 oz. head, but missed a few strikes due to the small hooks, I think, so I went to 1/16 oz. with larger hooks. Some strikes were aggressive near the top, others subtle and deeper. One crappie went 13.75 inches, another 13.5. I also caught about as many throwbacks as keepers. I also caught one spotted bass that way. Water temp was 55-56.
