Took my buddy Don Wilson from Big Daddy's Outdoors and his son Skyler, and friend Mason for some hot catfish action. I guess the memo to the fish got lost in the mail.
It was very, very slow. We finally got a bite after more than an hour and Skyler reeled in a nice 12lb fish. emoDance Don wanted to take a "water pic" so we let it hang at the edge of the boat for a little bit, then I was stupid and tried to lift it by the leader, and broke it off at the hook. emoBang The fish was a bit shocked, and I thrust my hands into the water to try and "grabble" the nice fish, but it was just too slippery and he swam away. Now of course the water is 52 degrees and the wind is blowing and I am wet all the way up to my elbows in my ONLY jacket. So I had to take it off and let it try and dry out. Good thing the sun was shining most of the time. emoSun With-in 5 minutes Skylers rod was about pulled out of his hands, and we ACTUALLY landed this fish..LOLemoDance No longer than we got his fish taken care of and Don had a good hit, but alas since he is a bass fisherman, jerked the bejesus out of it, and the circle hook never found bone. emoTskTsk That was it, no more bites, or pecks. I did throw the cast net one time at a monstrosity of a bait ball, and came up with 50 or more giant threadfin's, and we could not even get a bite on those. It was still a nice time on the lake with friends. Maybe next time.
