EricM, Below Nick dam, cats & drum, 03-22-09, another dam problem
#1
Yeah, yeah, you knew it was just a matter of time before I went and did something foolish, silly, dumb, or just plain stupid (again) (and again), and today was one of them (again). I went below the Nick dam and tied to the face of the dam to try for cats and drum. I caught two medium channel cats and one nice 18 pound drum, and that was all. I watched a bunch of fishermen try for stripers, etc., but only saw white bass and some crappie landed. Pretty slow day.

Of course, eventually the wedge I was tied to worked loose and came out, setting me adrift. First I said dam, then I hit it - yes, I left water on the floor again, but with my taking a diuretic it's no suprise - this time with the trolling motor in the stowed position, which leaves the top of the trolling motor hanging out over the edge of the boat just enough that the control head protects the bumper/rub rail by breaking the plastic cover off when the left side of the boat smacks the concrete. How I reacted and retrieved the plastic cover is beyond me. Oh well, a few quick turns with the roll of duct tape and I'll be good as new for the next trip. It seems concrete and I don't get along very well - started with my first tricycle (ow!), then progressed through roller skates on the sidewalk (ow! ow!), bicycles, motorcycles (boy, can you lose a lot of skin with them), and now boats. I'll have to apply for an economic stimulus/bailout package to pay the bill team-d and the TVA will be sending me to clean the fiberglass off of their concrete!!!!!!
Here's a pic of the drum spinning just as the shutter clicked. Timing is everything!
