drumking, chickamauga, crappie, 3/26/09, alone
#1
I fished for about 3 to 4 hours late morning, early pm. I landed 22 crappie, 13 males, 9 females. All the females were released. The males have a date with Mr Canola oil. Also 3 yellow bass and 6 bluegills. The fish were caught in shallow water 18" to 5' deep over stumps, brush, etc. BG shads and panfish assassins are the only lures that I had any luck on. I threw a tiny overhead spinner without any takers. Fished with a tube jig and floater a little bit too without any luck. Tightlining 1/32oz jigs were the only way that I got bit this morning.

Water temp was 57.7 degrees when I quit. Showers early and then sunny just before I stopped fishing. Wind was out of the SW 5-10 mph. Aggravating, but managable. I ended up with 13 male crappie to keep and released the 9 females. I would have stayed out longer and caught 2 more males, but I noticed that my trolling motor rope was just about to break, and it is a pain in the arse to repair while on the water. I really have to beach the boat in order to get to the front of the mount and I didn't want to do that today while alone. I'll get to that just after I fillet these fish.

Going tomorrow with Hal for a while. Wish us luck. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
