Thank You Mr. Rubber Leggs
#1
I've been fishing on the Henry's fork around St. Anthony a couple of short hour to three hour trips per week for the last while. The fishing has been amazing! I haven't caught a fish under 14 inches for a couple of weeks, with the average being about 16 or so. This morning was slow, and I only landed two in the couple hours I was out, but the first one was about 18 and the second was the 22 incher in the pic, so that made up for the lack of numbers. Glow bugs and rubber leggs have been the trick.

I love the title to your report. Are your rubber legs weighted or not?

Thanks

i love the bennets rubber leg in my opinion it is the best all around fly for the south fork and the henry's it likle a nightcrawler it works year round. and i use the weighted ones.

I've been using weighted, but I've also been tying up some unweighted ones to try out a new idea when the salmonflies start hatching.
I agree with you chrome junky, they are one of my favorite go to flies. I think it's because of the life history of salmonflies, they live as nymphs for a couple years before hatching so there are always at least good size salmonfly nymphs in the river, so the fish almost always recognize them as food.

Good report and nice looking fish. I still haven't fished the Henry's Fork since moving over here. Sounds like a fun place to go though. I've been too busy exploring the South Fork Smile

I decided to hit Henry's just below Saint Anthony yesterday and had a blast! Caught a bunch of fish, most were 12-14 inches, and missed even more than I caught. Most were browns, but did catch a couple whitefish. The highlight of my evening was landing a 4lb hog of a brown. I haven't had a trout fight like that since I can recall. It must have taken me 10-15 minutes to land him. I caught the big guy on an olive, bh wooly bugger. Was also catching a bunch on a hare's ear. I think having a little big of flash on the h.e. nymph helped too. All in all, it was the most fun I have had casting a fly in a while! [Smile]
