Got together to fish for a day with and old friend and one of his old friends from the Atlanta area. We started out fishing for crappie in the morning but it was a rough day. It was very windy, there was a huge amount of current in WT and the fish weren't very cooperative. We ended up with about 9 keepers in the morning after fishing for a couple of hours but most of the fish were deeper than they had been over deep brushpiles. It took a 10 to 12 count to get a bite it seemed. We planned to fish for bass in the afternoon and went to the cafe at HBSP and had a Philly Cheese steak. If you haven't had one there you really need to try it. We went bass fishing and fished shallow in 3-5 feet of water and probably had between 8 and 10 total, up to 2lbs. Most came on rattle baits with a couple on suspending jerkbaits. It was fun to fish for bass for a change and catch a few. We then took a crappie that had died over night in my bucket up to try to catch a couple of Eric's pet catfish. When we got there Cathooker had his boat there connected to a 50lb cat by way of puddlejumper. You should have heard the whoopin' and hollerin' when they got that one in the boat as it beat his PB by 15lbs and he caught it on 15lb test. It was a test of endurance that is for sure as I think he must have fought the fish for over a half hour while we were there and for who knows how long before that. We had a couple of bumps but we never hooked up. We went to a dock close by and caught a few more crappie and then headed home. It was a great day with great fellowship. The fishing was only so, so, but what would one expect with a guide like me. Here's a pic with some of the fish that we caught. It was a beautiful day to be out there enjoying God's great creation!
