BassmanIU, Chick, Crappie, 4/17/2009, Tripp and Josie (PICS)

I was able to work enough hours early in the week so I could have Friday afternoon off. I kept watching the forecast and it looked like it would be a killer day. Picked Tripp up around 1:00 and we headed to HBSP. Thought about putting in at WT until we saw both parking lots packed out. Got into the water around 2pm. We zipped to our first spot, main lake dock, and the 2nd cast was a crappie... :o Looked like it WAS going to be a good day. We stayed on that dock for 2.5 hours until we loaded up at 4:30. Total for the dock was 23 crappie (8 keepers), 1 golden shiner, and 1 mystery fish. Kind of looked like a carp/buffalo. We were fishing squirts on 1/32 heads and the magic number was 6. I kept 6 of the bigger fish and let the 2 10-inchers go. Not too bad for about 3 hours of fishing. Tripp is still getting used to the whole "dock shooting" game, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon. Josie likes to lick each fish before we turn them loose. We wanted to go into WT, but knew it would probably be packed. We were also fighting the pleasure/yacht crowd on the main channel. One nice day and the crazies come out of the woodwork. I could pack a cooler and just hang out at the ramp all day, watching all the goobers load in/out.

http://i39.tinypic.com/2uz8bpd.jpg

http://i40.tinypic.com/5b2r08.jpg

http://i43.tinypic.com/2dgpe0x.jpg

http://i43.tinypic.com/2ij5dur.jpg
