Got out for a little while yesterday afternoon with the family. Bought Taylor a new Dora the Explorer combo and rigged it up with a 8/0 circle hook and a nice sized chunk of skipjack. emoBig
(knowing that it would be THE rod to hook into a big one) Well sure enough she hooks into a BIG blue and proceeds to draw a crowd of on lookers while she battled the beast for about 30 minutes. I dont know what size line that thing had on it for sure but it looks like about 6 or 8 lb test...all I can say is I was surprised that the drag worked that well on that llittle ol reel( although it MAY be toast now!!) We finally got it to the surface and I could see it wasnt a 30 plus but it was a VERY nice fish for a 7 yr old girl on a DORA combo!! 23 lbs!!! She was proud as a peacock and I was proud of her for hanging in the for soooo long!!! Shes a trooper I tell you!! T Roy also hooked into a Monster but after a short battle the line popped and it was all over. It was lookin like he had a chance at the shsimons free steak dinner for a little while there...but o well...the ONE THAT GOT AWAY!!! emoConfused Water temp was about 63 out in the discharge and I could not get ANY shad in the net so we just used frozen skipjack for bait!! Very nice day and it was a good time out with the family! Heres a couple pics of Taylor with the beast and the Dora rod!! Enjoy!
