reliable, Lake Baccarac, Mexico, LMB, April 13-15, S. Holden

Returned from our 2dn trip to Lake Baccarac, Mexico in search of the big bass that they are known for - when we went 2 years ago the topwater bite was incredible, and the bass were pretty easy to catch - this year was different, the water was not as low as it usually is this time of year, and the topwater bite was only on for an hour in the morning of the 2nd day. We finally found the big fish suspended in deep water, off of the points and submerged islands. We could have caught a lot of fish in the 2-5 lb range on lizards in the shallow water, but we were after bigger fish. <br /><br />It is a wonderful fishery, with beautiful surroundings - I feel very lucky to have shared the boat with good friend and great fisherman Scott Holden. <br /><br />Several fish over 10 lbs caught, 5-6 over 8 lbs. On the best day, my best 5 would have totaled slightly over 42 lbs. <br />Here are a few pics of the fish and lake:
