[cool]Sorry for the late post. My fishing buddy from calif. came out to fish. We went south of 33 hole on friday. Fishing was slow but we did get a few. I got a 3.5lb LMB on a rattle trap and a 2.75lb LMB on a 3'gulp grub. My buddy got a couple of small stripers. We then went out saturday alitte further south of 33 hole and fished in the rain for an hour for one striper on a rattle trap. We then staked claim to an island and started fishing anchovies. It wasn't wide open but we got hit about every 5-10 min. I ended up with two catfish to 2.75lb and six stripers. My buddy got four stipers. Was able to put more meat in both our fridges. Can't wait til the topwater action!

Hey BigE. Did you hike down from the 33 hole turnoff? I want to get out there but want to see if there is somewhere a little closer to the water. Seems like a heck of a hike down to the water. Maybe around near the Mile 8 turnoff? Nice catch.

[cool]Hey bmitchell, Yeah I do hike down from the 33 hole parking area. Sometimes from the parking on the right fork, sometimes from the left. It all depends what area of 33 hole I want to fish that day. I haven't fished from 8 mile road yet. Are there some good coves to fish from a floattube? Always on the lookout for good fishing areas.

I just happened to have an hour or so to spend yesterday so I drove out and just looked for a few nice coves. I have made the 33 hole hike before and with a tube, waders, rods, etc... it is a beast. I noticed about 15 trailers across the shore from the 33 hole lookout and didn't know the way to that shore. It looks like you can get down pretty close to the water, closer than the 33 hole hike anyway. I want to try to take my tube out this weekend, but want to minimize the walking and maximize the fishing. I may make a run around the other side to see where the 8 mile road spits me out. I'll let you know. Want to try to get some LMB or SMB though.

[cool]Hey bmitchell, most of those trailers are parked off government wash road. You can get closer to the water if you take the road to the right of the restrooms. I have fished from there a few years ago and have caught stripers and a couple LMB. Good luck.
