drperrin, watts bar, largemouth, smallmouth, 4/25, nephew and his fiance
#1
fished with my nephew and his fiance. started about 10 am in muddy creek which is in piney river area at spring city (right behind the house). fished brushed in 10 - 12 foot of water for crappie ---all fish caught were too short. water temp was 65. using 1/32 head jig with pan assasin. after about an hour my nephew said lets try bass in the cove where those stumps were. Stumps were in 2 - 6 foot of water. threw spinnerbait and excalibur xr50. my nephew's fiance caught the first keeper right away. spinner bait was 3/8 oz double willowblade nichel color with a bluegill colored skirt. we fished two coves with stumps in piney --- ended up with 12 bass (3 keepers). went to the main channel and headed up to the iron hill cutthrough. fished rock ledges, with broken rock and stumps --- wind was blowing right into the bank and the water had some stain in places. water temp ranged from 67 - 69. the fish were right on the bank. caught another 20 or so on this pattern all with spinnerbait. went over in the bay at stump hollow and started throwing xr50. nephews fiance said her shoulder was sore. caught 6 -8 there (only 1 keeper). later in the afternoon (like 6 pm) started fishing main lake points (deep drop offs near rip rap or rock. used small crankbait. would hold the boat in 15 - 20 foot ---again fish near bank. last place was a hump next to main channel. water depth from 2 - 5 foot with mixed rock size. xr50 on all of this. largest fish there about 8 pm. largemouth 4lb 14 oz. ended at dark. total was over 40 bass today. 12 keepers. 2 smallmouth and the rest largemouth. picture of largest smallie and largemouth below
