Triton-LB, Carters Lake, Striper, Hybrids, and Spots, 04-29-09, Damon Taylor aka Cutthroat

Out on trip w/ Damon Taylor aka Cutthroat today. Damon fishes the CBA and also ran the Tennesse Team trail this past year. He's gonna be handling the weigh-in/blast off for Brad Peterson May 30th during the MS Benefit tournament on Chickamauga. Hope to have a big crowd for a great cause, sign-ups begin May 1st at Fish N Fun.<br /><br />Damon and I fished from 7am-3pm and enjoyed a great day of fishing on Carters. The bite was completley different today than the past few trips but we adjusted and caught fish most of the day. Damon started us off w/ big hybrid pushing 8lbs and then 30 mins later he caught a very nice striper both on topwater and both fish really showed off. The striper were hard to call up today, we marked a ton of fish suspened in 20-30ft over 50-60ft flats and should have thrown swimbaits a little more but the topwater strikes are worth the wait. When we were fortunate enough to call a striper up they would come up in small groups but we weren't able to double up.... We had around 10 blowups and connected w/ 3 boating 2. We also caught a few spotted bass and lost a 4+lber during our morning topwater bite. Around 9am we got after the spots w/ Scroungers and small Swimbaits and boated around 20 spots for the afternoon. Best 5 11-12lbs.<br /> <br />During our last hour of fishing we tried to target some bigger postspawn spots out on some structure w/ no such luck. On our way back to the ramp I stopped on a small area to make 1 more cast, 20 mins later after we'd got bit every other cast we decided to call it a day. The highlight of the day was when I hooked up w/ a 2.5 spot on a fish head and as the spot came up we were suprised to see a 30lb+ striper that was snapping at my spot, she came right next to the boat and Damon almost had a fit LOL. It was a HUGE fish. Here are a few pics from todays trip, the spot is the average size we caught today.
