Newbie on Long Island

Newbie to both the site and Long Island.[fishin]
I live in Suffolk County along the LI Sound, however I prefer freshwater fishing.
I am on a plight to find some good bass and trout locations here on LI.

Don't know where to do any fresh water fishing on LI, however having lived upstate a bit, found lots of lakes and river that were great for trout, bass & pickerel. How far are you willing to travel?
