Al and I headed down to the Gunny Hole yesterday. Leatherneck97 and Antman decided to follow in leather's boat. We ran down river to meet brandon and drop off an order of Monkey Dust. He kindly left us a hole but not before he and Randy ripped 'em out of there! Before we left I was able to hook up with a nice keeper that came shallow on a Spinnerbait. We then moved down river to hit some hard bottom areas I fished in the spring. I got another good solid keep that fell to a t-rig. We bounced around looking at different mussle beds and other hard bottom areas without much luck. Al made the suggestion to try some deeper points so we did, and we finally graphed the mother load in deep water off a rocky point. I bet we caught 25+ fish in this area with most being keepers. There were also some magnum spots down there and Al I picked up several over 2lbs. I stuck with the swim bait in that area and Al was absolutely ripping them out of there with a 1/2oz. DJW Jig. I know I he got bit half a dozen casts in a row. Most of these fish were between 16-25ft deep on huge bait balls. We finished the day flipping plastics and jigs on the river bars around grass and pads where hooked a few more keepers before we called it quits. We had a best 5 pushing 15lbs or so. We just couldn't get any of the kickers Brandon found, but we had a blast and learned some new areas. Water temps were in the low 70's and the current was rolling.
