Brite and early this morning we were off on a crappie hunt on the Nick. It was a nice day and I wanted to find some good places to catch some crappie which I couldn't find last weekend, emoScratch We were in the water by 7 and headed for some bridge pilings, emoThumbsup where it was a slow start for crappie but the spots were hungry emoTongue and we caught a couple nice ones before I hooked a good crappie but there seemed to only be one in the area that was hungry, emoScratch We moved around quite a bit but never found the crappie stacked up anywhere. We did catch some quality fish but only 12 crappie for the day which was a let down from what I expected. Martie got in on the catching action when she caught 5 of the 12 and one was over 13 inches, emoThumbsup She was sayin', "I have another TARP, I have another TARP." But the ruler said 13 and a half, emoAngry Of course Jake was in on all the action all day, checking out all the fish which came in the boat and barking at some of the other boats as they went by, ( Hope he didn't irritate too many other Fishermen, emoRolleyes )
Weather was mostly cloudy with the temp at 60* when we started and almost 80* when we quit about 1:30 Water temps were around 72* and even 75* in some places :o
There was lots of boat traffic around the bridges by mid day, emoRolleyes and plenty of waves to ride, emoEek
The fishing wasn't that great but the scenery on the Nick is fantastic, emoThumbsup
