After a wonderful, restful weekend with my daughter, SIL, and grandkids in Louisiana, I'm finally back at it. I had yardwork to do before I could start back after the crappie. I noticed that several had good crappie reports while I was away. WTG, guys. All that had success. Crappie fishing should be good for the rest of the year, if you can stand the heat and don't care to fish deep.

I fished from 7:30 until 11:00 AM this morning. I managed to land 26 crappie, 1 tiny lm bass, 1 yellow bass, and 1 channel cat. Where is EricM when you need him? emoBig
Nearly all the crappie were deep (over 20&#39
and I caught some good ones too. I had a few throwbacks and a few keepers that didn't quite measure up to my 11-12" slot limit. My brother-in-law helped me yesterday put a belt back on my mower, so I kept a few crappie to help him out. I caught my fish on a S/P BG shad that I had worked on with spike-it. I took a Q-tip and painted down the back of it with blue, and then dipped the tail and belly with chartreuse. It worked for nearly every fish that I caught today.

I met Richard Britt (can't remember his screen name) up at the bluff at Sequoia and we had a nice talk. I gave him one of the 3 bg shads that I had painted up. I saw him catch a crappie on it just after he started back fishing. I also met Catfishone with a friend up there too. They stopped by and chatted for a couple of minutes. Catfish was going to teach his friend how to shoot docks. I caught some fish on docks, but most of them came on bluffs or bluff like structures and deep. Fishing with 1/16oz jigheads. Water temp was 77 when I started and 80.3 at 11:00 AM.

It is good to be back home and after the crappie. emoBig
