drumking, chickamauga, crappie, 6/4/09, alone
#1
I waited around this AM looking for the storms that were supposed to be here by 11:00, and when they didn't show up, I went fishing. I went downriver today. I caught 33 crappie under docks. Most were on a 7 count. I kept 5 nice ones for dinner and released all the rest. I had several throwbacks today. A lot of 9" fish so we should have great fishing for years to come. I started off with a panfish assassins and didn't get any bites on it, so I switched to the hot bait of yesterday. BG shad S/P with the back painted blue and tail dipped in chartreuse. The fish really like this color since the water is so clear. I fished until 1:00 PM at which time I was in the river across from Harrison Bay when I heard 2 or 3 rumbles of thunder. Although the sun was still shining brightly, this chicken immediately quit fishing with the fish still tearing it up and headed for the ramp. Got home in time to put my boat in the garage, blow the driveway off from mowing Tuesday and then the storm hit at 1:45 at my house. I'm eating a crappie sandwich as I type this report. Leftovers from last night. Yummy. emoHungry

Yesterday the fish were over 20' deep mostly, and today at a 7 count. Go figure? emoScratch That is what I love about crappie fishing. You just never know. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
