Jeff Jeffenelli and I fished event #4 on the Astec Bass Trail, out of Soddy Creek (35 boats). Well the morning started of with us realizing I left the net at home! This proved to really cost us. Then upon blasting out of the Creek I saw someone on the hole I had planned to start on. So I went to plan B before ever wetting a line. Basically we started hopping from ledge to ledge. Within the first hour we had a limit but had lost probably 5 fish fish that would have weighed 13+ in the same time frame. Jeff started really picking up the bites on a DD, so we started cranking the edges and we would loose 2 fish for everyone we swung into the boat. I went on a role where I lost 4 fish over 4lbs and had one really nice one break the line as I tried to swing him in. All of the community holes were loaded with boats and we just kinda hit the in-between areas on the ledges we found the fish seemed to move deeper as the day went on, we caught fish on heavy spinner baits, cranks, swim baits, DJW football jigs, and we had success using these crazy little baits jeff picked up called a su-spin. I guess by lunch we had gotten over the fact that we were complete idiots for leaving the net, and we had fun. We hooked a lot of fish and I know they'll be there for the CBA Saturday-hopefully! Our best 5 weighed 13.3# which was good for $130, 6th place, and some good points. Again the Astec guys put on a great event.
