Got out and went fishing with my dad on his birthday. He wanted to spend in on the water and I was happy to tag along with him. We put in a Charleston boat ramp at 6:30a.m. and headed up river to the old mill dam. He wanted to catch some shad to free line for some schooling bass. We stayed at the spillway till about 7:30 but the shad never came. We managed a couple bass on 5in green pumpkin worm on a jig head bouncing it on the bottom and one bass on a lipless crank. We then headed down river to mouse creek and fished it for about an hour and managed one more short fish on a C-rig. We came back out of the creek and headed down to the interstate bridge and marked a ton of fish suspended at about 12ft in 18 FOW but couldn&#39;t figure them out stayed there about 20mins and caught one bass about 12in on a strike king crank. We then ran down past Ledford Island staying on the edge of the channel looking for fish on the drop. I was throwing a crank up to the bank in about 6 FOW and cranking it down the hump when it got slammed and after a few mins of finessing the big girl to the boat we had her netted. She weighed 5.1lbs. She was caught on a strike king series 5 sexy shad color. My dad caught two more fish one short caught on a blue/chrome rattle trap and one about 2.5lbs caught on a rapala shadrap white/ghost color. We headed back to the boat dock and pulled the boat out at about 1:45. Had a great day on the water as always fishing with my dad. <br /><br /> Happy Birthday Dad. emoParty
