Hal, Chick, Mixed - Crappie, 'gills & Bass, 8-02-09, Drum King
#1
DK and I started out this morning at daylight in the rain and the 5 mph wind that the weatherman said we had, (1st time I've seen white caps at 5 mph- emoPoke ).
We had to search a lot of places to find a very few fish but we did find quality today, emoSmile I think we had 23 crappie, (DK was keeping count and I'm not sure, he'll give us the numbers later) and 4 bass, 2 nice spots and a couple suicidal little bream.
DK caught his 9th TARP crappie of 2009 and we had several 12"+ crappie to make it a pretty good day but around 10:30 they got lock jaw and we didn't catch much after that, emoScratch maybe the front was coming thru and turned 'em off, emoScratch The wind did die down and it was pretty nice 'till 12:30 or so when all the destroyers and chiggers showed up so we headed for the trailer.
emoAngry
All in all it was a good day but not the numbers that we were looking for, emoRolleyes
Water temp was 81* in most places and stained. The count was 15 to 20 in 30'+ water and they weren't choosey about the bait, mostly ringer stingers, slab slayers and Bobby Garland Shad in lighter colors, emoThumbsup
