Any suggestions on fishing the lakes in the beaver mtn areas. Is puffer the best? Which lake is best? Also anyone know a good place to catch Brook Trout?

Thanks,

Personally I like LaBarron or Anderson Meadow best. Donkey is not on Beaver Mtn. If you want to catch brookies you should probably stick to the Beaver River and the creeks that feed it, especially in the higher reaches. Frankly Beaver mountain does not have very productive lakes, at least in my expereince. It is one of my favorite places to camp, so I do fish up there now and again, but the fishing is not so hot. If you're in the are and want to do some serious fishing the Beaver River above town is good as is Minersville Reservoir.

I've caught some decent trout at Labaron. I like to fish down by the dam.

I've also caught numerous small trout at Anderson Meadow.

I've had good luck with small Super Dupers and Panther Martins.

If you looking for big fish Beaver Mtn. isn't the place. You might catch a hold over stocker but most of what's in the lakers are planters. The only place you could catch a big fish is out of Little res. or Kents lake. Puffer is heavily stock because of the ski resort there. If you going to try the river plan on walking in the uppper most portion to catch brookies. The lower section is stocked but most of the bigger fish have already been taken by the local beaver residents. The camping is always better then the fishing so enjoy and let us know how you do.

Two places in Beaver Canyon that have always procuced brookies for me are the stretch of water between Three Creeks Reservoir and the Merchant Valley Dam, and Anderson Meadow Reservoir and the stream below it. Not much for size, but pretty fish all the same.

Three Creeks proved to be the best for me, landed several fat rainbows. Most in the 14-18 inch range. Puffer was not bad but most the fish landed was under 12 inchs and not fat. I fished Three creeks right below the overflow.

Also caught a 6 inch brook trout out of a really small stream. Turned him lose. I never saw another fish in the stream the entire weekend.

Overall id say the fishing was better than expected.

Thank you for the post. I also went to Beaver Canyon for the first time on an in-law excursion. I took my wife's little cousins in the creek on the lower stretch of the canyon. We didn't do too well until we started using cicadas. We discovered them in the bushes right before we left and the fish went nuts over them. It was energizing to see the excitement of those three boys.
