Since my son in law Jordan was in for the holiday weekend we decided to give the bass a try this morning. We launched from HBSP just before dawn and went to a flat with some grass on it next to deeper water. In just a little while I latched onto a pretty good fish on a white slugo and keeper #1 was in the boat. I thought, "this is going to be a good day!" The only problem was that the top water bite just didn't hold up. Jordan threw several different top water baits such as a pop-r, a frog, and a tiny torpedo. He had a few strikes but no hook ups. I continued with the slugo and didn't get any more hits. We saw Jmax and Fishinjunkie and made the change to the worm. We started catching fish. Not keepers but a lot of 14 to 14 1/2" fish. It was fun. Jordan finally came thru with a keeper that would have went 2 maybe 2 1/2 lbs. to go with my 3 1/2. We caught a total of 11 bass on the flat with the two keepers by 9:00 am. When the sun got on the water good it slowed and we went up Wolftever to try some rock and wood banks. We caught a few small fish to end the day with 14 bass boated (2 keepers pic attached!). We came off the water about 11:30. I had a great time fishing with Jordan and it was good to see Jmax and Fishinjunkie.
