I went fishing with Polo Dog today. Had not been out with him since spring so it was good to get back on the water with him. I met him at the dock around 9:15am and we took his boat. Sunny day for a change and neither of us had been out much so did not know what to expect. emoQuestion Our first stop - an old road bed where we both threw T-rigged worms but no takers. 
emoBang Freida was none too happy. So we headed to the Nukes to see if anything happening there. Only thing that really happened was Freida decided to use the back of the boat for her business -- emoEek emoEek Fortunately I sidestepped it when I realized what had just happened. I asked Polo for a piece of plastic and well he threw it overboard barehanded emoEek emoEek emoEek No more shaking hands with Polo the rest of the day emoUp
Well after that excitement we went to a new place and there were a few bass busting periodically. So I cast a spinner bait and slow rolled it in about 20 feet and bam - caught first fish! emoFish Kept fishing the spinnerbait emoAngler and Polo worked the top. Second cast and a big one hit it and whoops - as I was reeling in the reel separated from the base of the rod emoDoh Slack in the line and I felt a nice fish swim off. Fixed the reel - Don't know what Polo was doing all this time emoUp Got my 1 oz spinnerbait back in the water and a few casts later hooked another one but came unbuttoned emoBang Kept on the spot emoAngler Polo finally catches one - haha and its a little one. emoFish But Polo is on the board. The current was so strong the boat got pushed over the money spot so the bite kinda quit but we both boated 3 a piece. Decided to go to a flat - I caught one small one on the 1 oz spinnerbait again. No takers on the drop with T-rigs. Ran back to money spot and the fish were there busting a little more often. Polo caught a few on TW but a lot the strikes missed. I tried TW and hooked one that came unbuttoned as well as had a few pop my TW into the air about a foot - How can they do that and miss all those trebel hooks??? emoBooHoo Went back to my money bait and started landing several nice fat fish. Most not very long but nice and fat. emoThumbsup Bite stopped and headed to a bluff to try for crappie but current pretty strong. Polo caught one and I caught one and also a nice little spot. Tried some coves and saw bait moving but not much happening. Tried frogs in grass but only thing we caught was grass and oh I caught a nice tree limb. Thanks Polo for the retrieve! emoCool Tried another cove and not much happening. Polo wanted to try a new dock for crappie so went there and he caught a couple. Polo is a master dock shooter. I have not mastered that technique but I sure admire Polo's skills. Overall we had a pretty good day but it was slow. Bait is present but Bass have not made up their mind what to do yet! TVA was pulling some major water today and the current was really challenging. Marked fish on some deep points but couldn't get the deep bite today. I don't know if I can go with Frieda again - she puts too much pressure on me to catch fish so she can lick them - ha ha emoBig Tight Lines!
