drumking, chickamauga, crappie, 10/06/09, John Faulkner
#1
First time out this week and it was a short trip too. My partner, John Faulkner, had a luncheon date and had to be off the water well before noon. We launched at 8:00 and quit fishing at 10:45. Good morning. 45 crappie, 2 spotted bass and 1 little bluegill that tried to commit suicide with John.

We caught mostly really good crappie. Very few fish were under 10" long and many over 12 to 13 inches in length. 33 of our crappie and the bass came off the bluff and 12 came off one dock. We used 1/16 oz jigheads and slab slayers on the bluff and 1/32 oz jigs on the dock that we fished. We had several doubles this morning as the fish seemed to be pretty active. The fish were on blowdowns on the bluff.

Sorry Doc, I forgot my camera and so did John. So, all we have is a fishing tale today, but we had a great time anyway. Too bad that you can't see the Smiles that were on our faces from jerking those fish in the boat. We will do it again soon, John. emoBigSmile emoGeezer

I decided to include a pic of our hottest lure today.

2nd ps: I had to play Dr Kildare with John this morning. One of those big crappie impaled the hook in his pinky finger well past the barb. 20 lb test Trilene big game, uni-knot and a quick jerk and John was back to fishing. Bandaid kept blood off carpet. emoBigSmile
