We had what we thought was a solid plan for today, (I had a great day pre-fishing yesterday) but it did not work out. We ran to our first spot this morning, and within 15-20 minutes had boated our first keeper on a Sammy. We then went into a slight lull, both with a slow bite and missing a few fish. Jerry then caught a few on a lipless crank and I thought we might be onto something. In the meantime, we would get an occasional blow-up on a topwater so we continued to focus on that. We had me chances, as I had a fish break off, taking by $15 LC Sammy with it emoBawl. We continued to catch fish, but they were mostly 13 1/2-14 1/2 inches long. We then hit another couple of spots, catching fish in the second area, and a few more in the final area we visited. We ended up catching fish on topwater, lipless cranks, and soft plastics.
It was a tough day, but as always, I enjoyed fishing with Jerry. We had a couple of really good tournaments, and a couple of downers as well. That's how it goes...
