On Tuesday I cashed a dental reimbursement check and decided I'll go do something fun with it. So I asked Mike Mitchell if he wanted to go Friday evening. We caught some skipjack, got blown off by a nasty storm, and started fishing at 6:30. We fished 6:30 to 10:30 and called it quits.

For whatever reason, we missed a lot of fish, but 6 came in the boat. We got bigger as the night went on, started with a 33 and a 25, then a 56, then a 65, then a new personal best at 68 lbs. It was flat out ridiculous. Flood gates were open and the fish were fighting really hard with all the current. I love it when they come to the top whipping their tails around, and especially when it's over 60 lbs. Mike has a great depth finder now that has the sidescan and gps. He can find his spots in the dark like a pro, and obviously, the big blues are feeding at night. I'll probably take my buddy who has never caught one over 5 lbs out with him in a few weeks. Hoping to fish Chickamauga/Nickajack as well if my boat is fixed. It's going about 5mph which makes it tough to cover any water to fish at all. I changed the fuel line that runs from the tank to the motor, but that didn't help. I guess it's something inside the motor. At least I have a boat now, so I really can't complain, I'm very lucky.
