[cool][#0000ff]I just received an email from Reed Harris, who is heading up the June Sucker Recovery Program and who produced the Utah Lake Legacy publication and CD. He shot me a link to a video they put on Utube...with footage of the carp removal process and results. [/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]I seem to recall that there was some mention of looking for volunteers, but no details.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I will contact Reed again and ask if they have any kind of volunteer plan and where to sign up.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In the meantime, every carp we remove on our own...by any means...is one less carp in the biomass. And any we can remove before they spawn in the spring is potentially thousands of others in the future.[/#0000ff]

[#008000]Even though it represents an insignificant number, I plan to continue doing my part in the carp removal process - one bait baggie of carp parts at a time.[/#008000]

[cool][#0000ff]And a fine job you do. We are all proud of your contributions...errrr removal efforts.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]On my part, I will continue my ongoing diagnostic and treatment sessions on all carpkind. As in the past, these will include: gillectomies, radical carpatotomies, carp tunnel syndrome treatments, precarpal lobotomies, carposection removal of internal organs, etc. [/#0000ff]

Hope it works. I have seen the comeercial guys doing about the same thing probably on a smaller scale for years. I have even seen them fish through the ice in a way similar to what was shown on the clip. The carp population thumbed its nose at the efforts. Would be great to see the carp population seriously dented. Thanks TD for the info.

I agree, I think that it will still be hard to make a significant change until they June suckers are gone and they can plant a lot of predators. The Loys can fish during daylight but Walleye/Pike/LM/Whitebass, would do it day and night. Its a tough deal with the Junies in there.

Do you honestly believe Utah Lake is lacking in predators and that more need to be planted?

Thanks for sharing the very interesting video on carp removal on Utah Lake. I couldn't believe how many carp are actually in the lake. It looks like a never-ending task!
Don't you wish someone was spending some time removing the carp from Yuba?

Great post thanks, I tried your carp release but all they would do is sink out of sight so I'm not sure how many swim away ( IF ANY)....[ ]
