Chesterfield or Devils
#1
Went to Chesterfield last wednesday and did very well (although a lot of people on the lake). REcent reports indicate that it mave have slowed.

Going this wednesday (from logan) with two 6 year olds and a 3 year old. WHo knows how long the kids will let us fish. Do we go 1 hour to Devil's or should we go 2 hours to Chesterfield? ANy suggestions?

Last year on Devils we fished South of Marina about 100-200 yards and did ok-good. Any suggestions (including depth) on where to try at Devils if we choose to go there?

Thanks!

if it were you and a couple other diehards i would go to chesterfield for the bigger fish. but with the kids i doubt its worth the long drive i would hit devils, from everyones reports it would be funner for the kids to catch a bunch rather than a couple footballs. and if the kids get cold pick up and drive to deepcreek or weston maybe they will be warmed up and ready for round 2 by that point.

I was going to say Daniels is closer yet, but realized you are probably going to want to use bait, so NEVER MIND[Wink]

I have fished both this winter, and you probabaly will do well, but I know most kids reel up so fast and you probably will bump the footballs under the ice as they come up. I know a lot of kids do this. Anyway Devil is made for kids and you still have chances to catch fish in the 16-18' range; if you plan on eating a few, Devil trout often love just plain Powerbait. I rarely use it, due to the fish swallowing it so deep.

Best of Luck,

Thanks for the replies all. Good info. What sucks is that I fractured my foot playing ball and had to cancel the whole "ice fishing" idea. That's why there's no report. Maybe in a week or two. GLA
