Decided to fish Guntersville today. Got on the water about daylight. It has been since mid-summer since I have been there. Put in at South Sauty very windy, cold, overcast, water temp 47-48 degrees, slightly below summer pool, creek clarity 1-2ft, and river channel clarity stained 1ft. Fished in South Sauty on several types of areas old grass flats, rip-rap ledges, creek ledges, creek mouth, and shallow secondary points with no luck, but I did see a couple of topwater blow-ups early this morning, but it might not have been bass. I primarily focused on grass edges between 3-7ft. deep with rattlebaits, crankbaits, and swimbaits, but with not a single bite. Next moved downriver to a cove that had a nice primary point on the mouth of it and a very productive secondary point in the past that still had a little grass on it, but still not bites. Then moved to a main river shallow flat that still had some scattered grass on it, but not takers wit anything I had to throw. Then I proceded to go deep with a swimbait and heavy jig where I had graphed what appeared to be baitfish but could not get a bite or stay in one spot for very long, so I finally moved to an area than had a good bit or rock piled up around it located on the main river and managed a couple of tiny nibbles and one tiny bass for the day that is pictured below. I actually got bored and drew
y faces on the side of the swimbait at lunch with my garlic pen and that is what I caught the one fish of the day on.
