Freida and I fished an hour at dusk tonight. We started at an area where there was a huge school of bait suspended at about 10 feet. My first cast produced and 11 inch crappie. I just cast out over the area and shook the bait every few seconds as the bait sank and at about a 20 count there was a "tick" on the line and up came the 11 incher. I know there were other fish crappie there but I just couldn't get another hit. I didn't stay there long as I was curious to see if my winter pattern crappie had returned as the water in the creek has dropped from the low 50s to 46 degrees. I ended up only catching 3 fish there but they were great quality fish. I thought both were bass when I set the hook as they didn't budge, only bending the rod. One shot under the boat and I thought for sure it was a bass but it wasn't. They were book end 14 inchers and weighed 1lb and 12 ounces each. They both were full of eggs. All fish were caught on 1/32 oz jigs with Panfish Assassins. The last three I caught were at about a 6 count and the bites were very subtle. It was windy and cold but it was worth getting painful finger tips to get the two TARPs. Here's a pic.
