I decided yesterday that I needed to go get the boat in the water for the first time and make sure everything was running fine. Talked to Hart and we decided to head to the Nick around 6 this a.m. Well, at 6 this morning, it was a tad bit nippy...so we stopped at the Waffle House and got to Sullivans around 8.

Fished up from Sullivans for a while with no luck at all. Definitely figured out that there was NOTHING shallow. Water temps had dropped with the cold night into the low 40s when we put in, so it must have moved the fish back a bit.

Came back down past Sullivan's and hit a few spots trying all different lures and presentations. Nothing seemed to work at all. Then I got a hook up on a crankbait in 12 ft of water and pulled up a nice, chunky keeper. Only fish of the day for us. Only BITE of the day....But, first fish of '10 for me and a decent keeper at that! I'll take it!

Headed back to Sullivans and loaded up around 1. Ran into Dragfish and Junkie at the ramp. They had a slow day as well. Hopefully the temps will get back up before next weekend. Still a great day to be on the water!

We started fishing from 2-8 ft then moved out to 8-15 ft. Threw Jerks, Jigs, Traps, Cranks, and T-rigs. Water was clear down to about 3-4 ft.

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn56/dirtymax58/SatFeb27111242AmericaChicago2010.jpg
