Tried new H2O today, way up river, not quite to the dam. Fishing with float set at 6' in 16' to 20' of h2o with 1/16oz MTJ bluegrass color. Caught 33 Keepers off two different spots, and probably 60 non-keepers. I was sitting in the front of the boat, and partner was in back standing up, the sun was somewhat in my eyes, and not his. my float made a funny twitch, I pulled tight, and started the retrieve, the fish began to roll and thrash about 4' down, all I could see was the flash, & all I could think was channel cat, then...it pulled loose. I looked at Joe & said, "Please tell me that was a cat." & with a look of utter shock on his face he said, "that was a crappie." I looked at the float wrapped around the tip of my rod then I looked back at him & said, "NO, please tell me that was a cat!" & with his head now hanging, with both arms at his side, and his rod hanging from the tips of his fingers, he says to me once again, "No Sir...That was a Crappie". He said that it was fur sur a 16" fish, probably 3lber. Just my luck! H2O was clear, 41ish, and decent current.
