Started our day on the main lake with jerkbaits. I broke off on a keeper smallmouth first thing. We know it was a keeper because it came up 4 times trying to shake free from my jerkbait. You could hear the fish rattle when it came up shaking it's head. Caught 2 or 3 short fish there and moved to a shallow pocket.
Fishing in 1-3' of water with 1/2 oz traps, I lost a BIG fish on a rattle trap. We don't know what it was but it was huge and just pulled off after about 5 seconds of pulling drag. Fished to the back of the pocket and Steve switched to a 1/4 oz trap and quickly put 2 keeper LM in the boat. I lost another hard pulling "something" a few minutes later on my trap. Caught several shorts in this pocket in 1' of water chasing shad and Steve put #3 in the boat on the way out of the pocket.
Went to the next stop, a deeper creek, and fished a stump row in 6-8' of water next to a creek ditch. Caught a few shorts on jerkbaits but nothing of size.
Next stop was a main lake point. Steve put 2 keepers in the boat on back to back cast with a jerkbait. They came from 6-8' of water. A few shorts also came from the same point.
Started hitting main lake points and caught a couple shorts but nothing to finish our limit. Went back to where Steve caught keepers #3 and 4 and waited in line for that point. (community hole) Steve was trying a differant jerkbait and I picked up his other and caught our 5th keeper. Caught a couple more shorts and called it a day.
Ended with 16# and change and came home to order more jerkbaits for the up comming Grant's T next weekend.

Enjoyed the day being netman but would have like to seen the biggun I lost. Just glad Steve took up my slack.
