Hit the Riverpark today at 9AM and fished until 12:30. Awsome day on the water. We started on our usual pre-spawn area throwing spinnerbaits (what else). Within the first 10 minutes I hook and boat a really nice 2.5-2.75 lb spot. Real chunk of a fish and for some reason did not get a pic. We continued to throw spinnerbaits and catch fish until the sun got high and the fish turned off. Alvin got a chunk of a LM in the 2.75 lb range on a spinnerbait before they quite hitting it. The fish stopped hitting the spinnerbaits mainly due to the high sun with flat water. No wind = no spinnerbait fish usually.
We switched over to tubes and continued to catch fish. I landed a really nice 18.5", 3.5 lb smallie on my first cast with a tube. Unreal. The last fish of the day was a 7-8 lb durm caught by Alvin on a tube.
We end up boating 16 spots, 1 LM, 1 smallie, and 1 drum. Our best 3 bass went about 8.5 lbs and out best 5 went around 11 to 11.5. Water temp was around 49-50 degrees. Up 4-5 degrees from 2 weeks ago but we are going to to have hit high 50's before the spots start showing up in force. Most of our fish today were males. Water depth today was between 5-15 feet of water seemed to hold the most fish.
