This is definitely a long shot as I've posted this question before, but what the hay I may get lucky. If anyone has been up to Ibantik lake or Meadow Lake in the Uintas (a few miles hike from Trial Lake) please drop me a line as to your experience with them brooks and cutts! I plan on going up there this weekend as I haven't been in a few years. I'll post a report when I return as it may be beneficial to one or two fellow lip rippers, though it seems that most users of this forum fish the larger lakes.

Junksiege,
I think you and I were cut from the same cloth. You are always posting about lakes and areas that I enjoy the most. I really enjoy going to the Uintas and particularly in the areas around the Crystal Lake traihead. However, Ibantik is one of the few lakes in that area that I have not been to. Please let us know how you do. And good luck to you.

Yeah, most my fishing is done in the high uintas or along the middle or upper Provo. I do get out and dunk a foxy jig down a ten inch hole at the berry when Jack Frost comes a callin'.
I have probably been to most all the lakes withing six or seven miles of Mirror Lake Highway and many more further away. I just can't get to them all every year of course! So I make the rounds from year to year. I'll visit a place more than once if it's got some bigger fish, or some really fast action.
If anyone needs info on any lakes in this area drop me a line. I'll help with all I know.

I did a backpack trip with a friend my senior year of high school (6 yrs ago) from trial lake, to wall lake, from wall to Ibantik, and then to meadow. We did a 4 day trip just to meadow, even though we came out in 2 1/2 hours!!! I thouroughly enjoyed catching cutts out of ibantik, they ranged from 6-14 inches. I could only catch planter bows out of meadow lake, but I lost the tip to my spinning rod in Ibantik lake so I was improvised fishing in Meadow, but in both lakes the usual for the Unitas worked, Colorado spinner, both copper and silver and fly and bubble, Fly and bubble worked extremely well right at twilight, non stop action!!! There are some very beautiful view on that hike also.

Thanks for the info Polokid.
I haven't been to those lakes in a few years but for some reason I remember Ibantik had nothing but Brookies and Meadow only cutts. I guess I'm mistaken. I do know that it's not a terribly long trip for a day hike. Most probably, I'll be up there this weekend and I'll post my findings. BTW, your right Polokid, the Colorado spinner is nice up there. Ever use a Jakes in silver or gold? They can be killers on brookies.

I use jakes lures from time to time up there, my problem is how heavy they are incomparison to the depth of some lakes in the unitas, when I go up there, I usually take my spinning rod, and bring flys, bubbles, colorado spinners, panther martins, hooks and a few worms!!! I definitely like to fish the streams of the uintahs with colorado spinners!!!
