Bigger Cat, Chic, Cats, 4-23, John
#1
After looking at the cat reports from you guys that weren't having a great deal of luck (some of you did very well I might add), I decided to launch at the old Blythe's Ferry Landing above the hwy 60 bridge to test the bites myself.

Some of my now GREAT friends had felt sorry for me and I had wound up with about 6 nice skipjack to try out. I had lost a Diawa Capricorn / IM8 combo at the nuke a week or so ago so I had bought me 3 Scotty rail rod holders for security. Didn't want to feed them any more rod & reel combos. My buddy John & I rigged a couple poles up with nicely marinated chicken boob and dropped them over the sides out of the way. We loaded up the ones in our hand with skipjack.

Now the fun started, we were trolling down river (too windy to drift down river in a toon) just out from the Hiwassee island. John's boob line started singing a sweet song. He handed me his skipjack rod and no more than handed it to me, it got hammered! John is getting his close to netting when stupid me, lays my 6600 Abu Garcia down (tucked in the swivel seat) and BOOM, that son of a gun shot out like a missile! Dad gum it. It looked like you had a anchor tied to 3 pounds of alka-celtzers with all the bubbles it left. I have fed those son of a guns about $400 in rod and reels in two weeks. I guess the adage, "You Can't Fix Stupid" is true.

On a positive note though, John landed a 21 pounder on the boob & he felt sorry for me & I landed a 23 pounder on his skipjack. We wound up catching 5 others that were just under 10 lbs. All in all, I guess the cats were biting up here along the Hiwassee. For the life of me, I can't add pictures.

I know about 5 good spots up here if any of you want to fish up here. They are between the Hiwassee Island & just above Blue Water Campground near the mouth of RIchland Creek.

I guess my Hummingbird unit will have to wait. Don't really need one without rod & reels. Thought some of you might at least get a little humor from my report.

Come on rain, load this lake with water & TVA, start pulling some current.
