Well, I have been waiting for the full moon in April all winter. Been telling Tyler about how good it is going to and how many fish we were going to catch. Well today was the day. The plan was to bass fish most of the day, try for some bedding google eyes to let Tyler see how fun they are and end the day fishing for smallies.
Tyler, Polo and I hit the Riverpark a little after 7 this morning and fished until a little before 4 PM this evening. We started out day fishing for my pets at the bend throwing topwater. The water temp had fell 2 degrees since yesterday evening and TVA had dropped the water level a foot. We got some of top but they were not very aggressive. I did get some good blow up footage on my movie camera that I will try to post on YouTube later. Gave up on topwater and pulled out the pig n jig. We flat wore out fish all morning long and finally I ran out of the mini pork trailors. The wind started picking up really good before lunch so we switched over to cranks and caught a bunch more. We left the bend with over 100 bass in the boat. Ended up getting a nice flat head, a channel cat, a crappie (hit a pig n jig???), a couple google eyes and a couple redbreats at the bend as well.

We headed up river to where Alvin and I killed them yesterday. We caught some there but with the water level being a foot lower most of the fish had pulled off. We got our 150th bass put in the boat there and decided to try for some google eyes.

The google eyes were on fire. We hit a really good spawing spot and boated right at 100 in a little over 2 hours on tubes. Man they were aggressive and thick. We end up boating 102 total today and while fishing for them we also got a few more bass to add to our totals. We got a triple to get us to 50 which was awsome.

After the google eyes we decide to try for some of my post spawn smallies. The wind at this point was crazy but we stuck it out. Got a spot or two and Polo lost a 12" smallie at the boat. Tyler jerks his rod and yells "There's a good one". Turned out to be a 2.75 lb spot. We just knew it was a smallie but no. A few minutes later Polo hooks some fishing line and pulls it into the boat. At the end was one of Alvin's tubes. Tyler had just broke off and took Alvin's tube and tied it on. A few casts later Tyler yells again "There's a good one". About that time I turned around to see a whale of a smallie just 2 feet into the air. After a long and stressful battle we got the beast into the boat. It was Tyler's best smallie ever at 4.62 lbs. Awsome fish.

So our totals for the day:
157 spots
1 largemouth (?????- Not sure where they went but a far cry for the 17 we had yesterday)
2 smallies (both caught by Tyler)
102 google eyes
6 redbreasts
1 channel cat
1 flat head
1 crappie

271 fish went into my boat today. Set new records for most bass boated in a day (160) and most google eye boated in one day (102). Also got the biggest smallie I have ever seen boated in person. Tyler told me "This was the best fishing day I have ever had by far. It has not hit me yet the number of fish we caught today". Most of the bass came on pig n jig, some on cranks, some on topwater, and a few on tubes. Almost all the google eyes came on tubes and the big smallie came on a tube. Water temp was 65 this morning and 67.5 when we left. We stuck and lost another 40-50 bass today. We easily stuck over 200 bass today. Unreal the fishery we have.

Catch rate today was 31.9 fish boated per hour of fishing. Unreal. Bass rate was 18.82 and we did not bass fish for 2.5 hours of the day. Crazy.
