so is there a estimation of time it takes salmon to reach riggins or hells canyon dam from the time it goes across lower granite dam

Talked to a friend of mine that works for the fish and game. He told me takes 6 days for that trip only if the river conditions are right. If the river is high and muddy expect much longer than that. Im headed to riggins tomorrow. Its a bit early but got to work this summer so only chance I have at getting some salmon fishing in.

I have trip booked on the 15th in Orofino. will we see fish? Also have a friend with a 17.5ft Crestliner with a 125ph volvo penta I/O will the water be high enough for an outdrive?

Yeah, the Fish and Game officer at the ramp in Lewiston told me they figure it takes them 2 days from Lower Granite to the conflluence. Said they don't waste any time like steelhead. Come through like a freight train!!! Mike

Now about putting that outdrive Crestliner in below Milk house or up at Clear creek? What do we need to watch for most? (other than the obvious rocks) and no we have no intention of throwing out an anchor to fish, although we do have 200' and a river anchor for emergencys?

Plan on back trolling Brad's super baits in both plug and flats? any other suggestions?

Osprey02, the river is very low for salmon fishing (13,000 CFS), and I would never run an outdrive fiberglass boat there. Seriously I would limit that rig to the lower river from The Paper Plant down to the confluence. If you do launch at Pink House, you will be pretty limited as to your travels.

It's aluminum & we did fish from a fiberglass boat up at Clear Creek back in 2002?

The river is a lot lower than normal this year, due to the region only getting about 60% of normal snow. Just be careful out there, no fish is worth losing a life or a boat.
