Some good friends had to be in Atlanta today and I was blessed to spend the afternoon with their daughter, 4th grader, Tian. We fished for a little while and ran around the lake a lot. I hadn't fished for the bream species on the lake since last year and when I headed for the places that I usually fish this time of the year the water on the main lake was so rough and full of logs that I just didn't think that it was worth running through all of that. I figured that I could find some fish sooner or later. We started off in some places in the backs of sloughs that I hadn't fished before and we caught a few red ears but just no big ones. We finally ended up back in WT and found a good bunch of bluegills in a very limited area. We ended up fishing a place right near my house that usually has some prespawner and caught a few more. Tian caught quite a few and I taught her to cast with a spinning rod. She had never cast with a rod and reel before. She learned quickly and I think had a good time fishing but it was very warm and I know that she really enjoyed the "running" in the boat. All fish were caught on bits of night crawlers on a drop shot rig set at about 6 inches with two small split shot in less than 3 feet of water. It was a fun time with a first timer. Here are a couple of fish pics and a couple of "running" pics.
