Went to Newton Res. the other day. Don't waste your time! Lower than last year and they only have a few days left to draw, only 3 in. of water flow. More action on the Dead Sea. This is my first post.

Welcome aboard taximan !! Sorry the fishing was slow . What type of fishing did you try ? Jigging , lures , bait ? Summer time can have them picky days out on the water . I am hoping to get back up there when it cools down a little .

Welcome to the board, taximan! Thanks for the current report on Newton. Unfortunately, many of our reserviors are in that condition. Pray for a killer snow pack this winter! Again, welcome aboard and hope to see more of your reports!

Thanks for your report and welcome to BFT! I just read on KSL that Newton is at 6% of capacity and the DWR just upped the limit on the lake, they would rather have the people have the fish instead of the heat.

Went out there with KickinBass Saturday mornign from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and we caught dozens of fish. If you had a float tube or a car top boat you can fill a five gallon bucket (or two) with small crappie. We caught about 10 worth while bass, a few decent perch (on #9 - 11 Rapalas), one good bluegill, and around 100 4-8 inch crappie. We didn't keep any because the quality of the meat is not the best this time of year. The res. was crowded with fishermen and many were keeping most if not all their fish. We didn't see any musky at all. Its tough to get to the water anywhere except along the dam due to the mud. On Fri I was exploring and went up to my thigh in mud near the boat ramp.

[#ff0000]Cheers Taximan, Newton hasen't been up to par the last three years that I've tried, from getting beat up from critical low water conditions. Even worse, I drove up I-15 through Idaho and southwestern Montana last week and they have worse water levels that we do that I could see. It was scarry. The grain and potato crops looked very good, the bird refuge was barren desert. The Beaverhead was flowing strong but not much left in Clark Canyon Dam to keep it that way for a lot longer. The storms this weekend were sure nice. [/#ff0000]
