This is a quick-trip report. I put in mid-lake and dropped the trolling motor from 11-1 earlier today. Jordan and I boated 9 fish, 8 of them good solid keepers in the 2.5 to 3.5 pound range. I targeted grass lines and stumps with a slow-rolled spinnerbait and a shallow-diving crankbait. All of the fish were stuffed full of shad. Pick any spinnerbait color you want so long as it's chartreuse and white. When they bit they would FULLY commit to it--I destroyed 2 perfectly good stanley spinnerbaits for 14# of bass...grr. My crankbait help up fine, but I ended up giving it to a gentleman fishing the dock out in front of where I was catching my fish. He asked me what in the world I was fishing with, so without having to explain myself in front of the other boats out there I just casted it on the dock to him and told him to keep it, lol! It probably made his day, but do be honest with y'all...if you're throwing a shad imitation bait with any amount of chartreuse on it right now, you're getting bit.

I'll be fishing a small church tourney upriver tomorrow, so I hope to have something better than a 2 hour trip to report. The fishing tomorrow should be pretty hot! And once again...if anyone can get hold of a late 70's Merc lower unit that came off a 85 or 115, please give me a shout.

Take care,

Jake
