Met Bassert at CFP this morning to try and find a few crappie. Pat's first fish of the day was a nice Smallmouth caught on a BG Shad from a dock. We found fish on a couple of deep water docks, some deep structure that was loaded with fish, and couple of bluffs. Most of the fish caught on different colors of BG Shad with Blue Thunder being best for me. Pat was experimenting most of the day so he caught fish on several different colors. 1/32 jighead mostly with 1/16 on the bluffs.

Bite was usually around a 12 count or deeper and dead sticking seemed to encourage a bite. Fish were very subtle feeders and a couple times we had fish swimming away with the jig before we released there was a fish on.
One of our stops on some deep structure showed some large schools of fish and they were crappie. Fun to find them on the structure scan and then catch a few.

We ended the day with 75 Crappie, 2 smallmouth, and several small spots. All in all we had a good day. Would have had more fish, but Pat is getting older now and tires quickly, lol. Not too bad a day for the old folks. Pat will probably post some pictures too. All fish returned to the lake.

Saw a lot of dead fish floating where the neters had thrown out their trash fish. A damn shame they still allow gill nets, just kills a lot of fish needlessly.

Regards, Labman
