craazyboutbass, Chickamauga, Largemouth & Spotted Bass, 6/1/10, Shane
#1
Shane and I were planning on heading to the river around 11PM last night, but a few looks at the weather changed our plans. Was suppose to be scattered storms and showers through the night until about 3AM. So we decided we'd head to the river around 3AM and fish into the daylight hours of the morning.
Hit the river around 4AM. We started off fishing around Sequoiah for the first hour and half. There were 4 or 5 commercial nets in the area that we kept getting hung in emoBang ... I dont know if they were seperate nets or just one gigantic net. All of the markers for the net(s) were between 75 and 200 yards apart from each other. The first was where that little rock point comes out away from the main river channel. The next 3 or 4 nets were right off the bank in 3-10FTOW emoBang Got hung several times in them emoEnforce
We managed 7 or 8 largemouth in that area with the biggest going about 4.5lbs, it measured 20.25" long.
Got sick of the nets and headed down river to fish some of those community holes. Ended up being a really slow bite, fish were there but there was no current flowing at all. Caught several largemouth over the next few hours with 2 or 3 of them going 2.5-3lbs. We headed up to the boils to throw the cast net hoping to scoop up a few shad, but no luck. Lots of catfish (I believe) were busting whatever they were busting. A few bass seemed to pop up around there too. Never chased after them.... made a run back up river and tried another ledge. Only boated 2 or 3 more fish over the next 30 minutes there... finally gave in and headed up river some more to fish some bluff walls. We boated our last 4 of the day there with 2 being spots. Ended the day with 18 fish... not a bad day, it was nice and cloudy, only a few sprinkles. But if only TVA was pulling some water, we probably would've had better results. Still another fun trip anyways.
