south fork of the snake report.
#1
floated the southfork yesterday from cotton wood to byongton and the fishing was amazing we nymphed most of the time landing a bunch of fish between the three of us using rubber legs, caddis nymphs, beadhead prince, and beadhead pheasant tails. we landed quite a few fish that were in the 16 to 18 inch range including a really nice hybrid my buddy landed. then about 1:00 pm roled around and it quit raining and got warm and really humid causing a massive Blue Wing Olive hatch to happen. we just happen to be in the right place at the right time and a big group of cuthroats started working the surface right where we had pulled off at. we tied on some BWO patterns and started fishing my friend and i litteraly picked off ever fish working in the riffle we were at we caught over 25 cutthroat out of this one spot all were 12 to 16 inches i also managed a pretty rainbow on a bwo also. after that we tied on nymphs again and finished our float picking up a few more fish on the way out. right when we hit the hiese cable a massive down poor happened soacking us all of us it sucked loading up the boats and getting out of our waders in a rainstorm.. i cant wait for next weekend to hit it again.
