Labman and I got out early this AM in search of bass. We started off dropshotting on a structure that was good to Norman last week, but we only caught a couple of little bass there and Norman got slimed with a 2 lb channel cat. After a few minutes of looking at the fish on the structure scan, and dropping the worms in their silly faces and getting no response, we decided to crappie fish for just a few minutes. We only tried 1 dock, but it had some fish on it. We landed about 8-10 crappie from that dock. Most were keeper size, but nothing really big. Then I suggested that we go back to the river and wait out the schooling bass. As it turned out, that was a pretty good call. We got into several schools of bass and landed about 8 to 10 with several pull offs and missed strikes.

I love it when the bass blow up on a topwater bait, even if he misses the lure and knocks it a couple of feet into the air. There is usually another right behind it to take the lure and that happened a few times this morning. It finally got too hot for us a little after ten, so we drove back to Tyner Lane and Norman let me off. I really enjoyed our foray this AM, Norman and looking forward to this again. emoBig
