Jmax, Chick, Bass, Tues dog fight,, 06/22/10, Colby

Colby and I hit the water at about 5 o'clock and started looking around for some activity and bass. We went out on the river and found some schools fairly deep. Was not sure they were bass so we made a couple casts at them. Was not long before one nailed me and I thought it was a really big one. Was not sure it was a bass and really thought I had a big drum. Stayed down a couple minutes and I worked it up slowly. Ended up being two three pounders on the same bait. emoDoh I told Colby that would never happen in a tournament if we needed those bass. About seven pounds of bass on one cast. Both were hooked real well and I had to work to get them off. Any other time they both would have come off before I got them in. emoRolleyes Saw some more bass but the bite seemed to be dieing when we got there. Went back to that spot and several more but the bite was dead for us. Only managed about 15 or so bass with 2/3rds of those being short. Not a good evening for us. Managed a couple decent bass on dropshots, shakeys and cranks. Never had anything on spooks, blades, big worms or pig/jig combos. We came in tied for 9th place with 7.50 lbs (3 Bass weigh in) out of 31 boats.<br /><br />It was so hot out there that your energy was just sucked out of you. It was in the upper 90s when we got there and the water temp at the park was 90 degrees even on the surface. Going to be even harder to keep those bass alive in the wells going forward. Most of our bass except one, I think he was lost, was caught between 15 to 25 feet. The one that was lost was caught in about 6 feet with grass on a shakey.<br /><br />We still had a great time and 15 bass in three hours was not bad but we were disappointed in the size, we just could not find any big ones. I do not think or at least know for sure we even had any big ones on. emoConfused We lost several and missed a bunch. They seemed to not be taking the baits well and would just have the back of the shakey in their mouths or just slap at it. We are going to fish the CBA marathon this weekend so we will see you there. emoBig Jmax
